Volunteer as a Tutor
Are you interested in helping children, teens, and young adults succeed in school? Ometz is looking for tutors to help children and teens with their studies, and adults learn a new language.
Child/Youth Tutoring: Tutor students aged 5-16 for one or more hours per week. Sessions can be held after school, evenings or on weekends to accommodate schedules.
Classroom Partner: Provide remedial help to one or more students in a school setting, for one or more hours per week.
Junior Maximize Youth Potential (MYP) Program: Provide support to a group of at-risk students, ages 8-12, during an afterschool homework program, which is offered Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays, from 4:30 pm to 7 pm. The aim is to have volunteers help with homework assignments, as well as bond with students through activities as they model positive relationships and academic success.
Language Tutoring: Ometz offers a variety of language workshops to help recent immigrants learn English and French. Volunteers are needed to help adults develop conversation and applied language skills by leading informal group conversation clubs, through weekly telephone conversations and/or one-on-one tutoring sessions.
