What to expect

As a part of a team of experienced therapists, the psychotherapist provides expertise for issues in social, behavioural and emotional stress to couples, families and individuals in order to help them improve their overall level of functioning using various psychotherapeutic interventions.

 

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assess clients through screening interviews for family and couple referrals
  • Conceptualize reason for the referral within one of the four theoretical frameworks
  • Establish an alliance with clients
  • Define appropriate goals with clients
  • Collaborate with internal and external services and networks
  • Participate actively in supervision
  • Schedule personal caseload
  • Fulfill all administrative and data requirements
  • Attend team meetings regularly
  • Maintain professional development
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Professional graduate degree in a relevant discipline
  • Active membership in OPQ as a Psychotherapist
  • Knowledge of social service network and of government programs and services
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Effective under pressure
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both official languages. We require strong English communcation skills due to the majority of our clientele being English speaking.
  • Proficient computer skills : MS Office and internet database
  • Knowledge and experience in working with culturally diverse communities, such as the Jewish community is considered an asset
  • Experience in Couple and Family counselling is considered an asset
  • Completion of Couple and Family Therapy Program is considered an asset
  • Background in creative arts therapy is considered an asset

This position requires the selected applicant to undergo a vulnerable sector police check.
