Education Program Coordinator

8 weeks - 30 hours/week

What to expect

The intern will assist the coordinator of a speech and language therapy and occupational therapy intensive summer program for children 5 to 10 years old with multiple issues in areas that include, but are not limited to, fine and gross motor development, sensory integration, speech, language, and social communication.

 

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES will include:
  • Communication with parents; explanation of program guidelines, collection of consent forms and questionnaires
  • Acting as a liason between the camp staff and therapists
  • Creating the schedule of individual and group therapy services for Occupational Therapy and Spech and Language Pathology students
  • Management of data and files; online and paper copies
  • Management of facilities and materials; including helping with room st up; scheduling rooms for therapy sessions; and managing resources (Assessment materials, therapy equiprment, etc.).
Preferred background:
  • Youth should have a University level degree (completed or in progress) and understanding of child development and services for example in the fields of Occupational Therapy, Communication Disorders, Recreational Therapy, or Leisure Studies. 
CANADA SUMMER JOB PROGRAM:

This position has yet to be approved by Canada Summer Job Program.

The following are eligibility requirements dictated by the Canada Summer Jobs program. In order to apply for this position, you must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and;
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

This position requires the selected applicant to undergo vulnerable sector police check.
