What to expect

The Supported Employment Specialist supports and assists neurodiverse individuals as well as those living with a mental health diagnosis to obtain and maintain employment.


  • Interview clients to obtain case history and background information
  • Assist clients in developing action plans
  • Provide coaching in and assistance with job readiness skills; job search strategies, CV writing, job interview preparation and accompaniment as needed
  • Refer to appropriate resources and job leads and advocate to employers
  • Provide on-the-job training, coaching and on–going support to both clients and employers
  • Write and maintain updated client files, reports & records according to Ometz and Emploi Québec guidelines
  • Prepare government wage subsidy applications & meet the government required objectives and benchmarks for intake and placement
  • Outreach to and participate in community, recruiting & job development activities in order to generate new clientele via cold calls, marketing visits & attendance
  • Keep abreast of employment and disability related issues, information and best practices
  • Consult and work closely with other departments on mutual client concerns
  • Refer to psychometric and/or abilities testing as needed
  • Participate in agency and departmental meetings
  • DEP in Special Care Counselling or Bachelor degree in relevant discipline
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with similar populations
  • Experience in sales, marketing or advocacy an asset
  • Experience in employment field an asset
  • Fluently bilingual in French and English; written & spoken
  • Ability to advocate with employers
  • Ability to work autonomously with own clients
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative team
  • Access to a car preferable
