Summer Contract - 10 weeks, 30 hours/week

JOB SUMMARY

The L’Annexe Team is seeking a Youth Worker starting June 12, 2023. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work directly with the L’Annexe Team. L’Annexe is a diverse, LGBTQ-affirming Jewish social service and community space open to everyone aged 16-25.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assisting in planning, preparation and co-facilitation of weekly workshops on pre-employment skills
  • Planning and facilitating of group activities, outings, and workshops
  • Accompanying young adults to work experiences and ensuring their successful engagement in work-based activities and learning
  • Hosting weekly community events
  • Engaging with young adults in community building and change making activities/li>
  • Outreaching to current and potential community members
  • Serving as an ambassador for the centre
  • Supporting the growth and development of L’Annexe by researching promising practices in youth services and exploring new programming opportunities
  • Staffing the drop-in centre and connecting with young people who come in to receive services
  • Performing administrative duties to help L’Annexe understand the impact of our work
PREFERRED BACKGROUND:
  • Enrolled and/or a graduate in a post-secondary program in Social Work, Community Development, Youth Work or similar.
  • Interest in career orientation, employment services or human resources in a social service environment
  • Fluently bilingual in English & French. We require English communication skills due to the majority of our clientele being from the English-speaking community.

This position requires the selected applicant to undergo a vulnerable sector police check.
