Alexis – Youth Mentor
“Volunteering is very important to me. The mentorship program really benefited my life in the sense that I made a friend. I taught my mentee a lot of life skills, such as taking the bus, how to tip at a restaurant, and budgeting.
I thought I was going to be teaching someone else something, but she taught me so much and made me grow as a better person. It’s very nice to see that I positively impacted someone’s life as well as my own.”
Max – Youth Mentor
“If you want to volunteer you can really make a big difference to somebody’s life.
One of the benefits that I got out of it is seeing a change in my mentee. To see somebody be more comfortable with who they are around other people is a really positive experience for me.”
Delaney – Academic Mentor
“I loved seeing his confidence grow, how empowered he feels and how much progress we made together. Your time is so valuable when you are with them.
You’re only committing one hour a week and that may seem like nothing to you, but to that other person, it could mean the world. I love how valuable your time is with them.
It’s been a really positive experience. It’s been super rewarding and I love the people that I work with.”
Irene - Youth Mentor
“I started volunteering at Ometz to gain more experience working with children since that’s what I want to do in the future.
My experience with volunteering really showed me that the field I was going into was really what I wanted to do.”
