Camp Counsellor

What to expect

The interns’ main responsibility will consist of facilitating the successful integration and acculturation of newly arrived youth to Canada through the summer day camp organized in partnership with the local community Centre. They will monitor campers’ whereabouts and promote a positive and healthy environment.

 As Camp Counsellors, the candidate will work in a summer camp creating and leading social and recreational activities. They will teach English and French language skills, serve as interpreters at the activities, and liaise with parents.

 

PREFERRED BACKGROUND:
  • Experience working with children of multicultural backgrounds and organizing various games and activities is an asset
  • Must be able to swim
  • Must have a good knowledge in both French and English.
  • Knowledge of Russian and/or Hebrew is an asset
  • Ability to communicate clearly with parents and build trusting relationship
CANADA SUMMER JOB PROGRAM:

This position has yet to be approved by Canada Summer Job Program.

The following are eligibility requirements dictated by the Canada Summer Jobs program. In order to apply for this position, you must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and;
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

This position requires the selected applicant to undergo vulnerable sector police check.
