Onews, November 2014: A message from Gail and Howard
It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating the High Holidays, and now we are already starting to plan for Hanukkah. Even so, with the notes of the Shofar blasts still vividly in mind, and the experience of enjoying the Sukkah despite the rain, the message of the holidays still lingers and reminds us all, what we at Ometz know only too well – that life is precious; that life is fleeting; that life is fragile. But we at Ometz are here, regardless of the curves life may present our clients – to support, to counsel, to encourage, to plan, to help shoulder the lows and rejoice in the highs.
Just how do we do this? Fortunately we have two clients who have generously agreed to share with us their personal testimonials in this newsletter, Shari and Avigaelle. From a mother’s unconditional love and attempt to deal with her son’s mental illness to a newcomer building roots for her young family in Montreal, their words speak most poignantly about the impact of our dedicated team.
At Ometz we don’t only wait for a call for help, we adopt a pro-active approach to the challenges we know will eventually emerge. And so we have included in this brief newsletter 3 activities we are proud to share with you;
1) On November 17, in partnership with the Betty and Bernard S. Shapiro Family Endowment Lecture Series, we will be presenting a workshop on kids and anxiety.
2) We have added a new portal to our website called The Career Gateway, an online hub for everything you ever wanted to know about finding a successful career, a task that nearly everyone faces sooner or later.
3) We recently received $100,000 from the proceeds of the Federation CJA Women’s Philanthropy Mosaic cookbook. These funds will allow us to provide vulnerable young women with the skills, training and support to help break the cycle of poverty.
Enjoy the newsletter – it is a pleasure to share it with you!
