A Mother’s Journey of Challenge and Hope Through Her Son’s Addiction”.

Linda will discuss what recovery looks like for parents of those who are struggling, highlighting why it’s so important not to face the journey alone.

This conference will bring together clinicians, and people with lived experience for a focused, practice‑oriented clinical day addressing best practice in the field of addiction and recovery. 

Accredited training activity by the Ordre des Psychologues du Quebec.

Conference highlights will include:

• Understanding the complex, non‑linear nature of recovery
• Examining current evidence‑based interventions and treatment models
• Sharing personal narratives that deepen understanding of relapse and resilience

 

PANELISTS' BIOS

1. Linda Mestel
Linda Mestel is a retired psychiatric nurse who spent much of her career working in trauma, as well as the author of a memoir, The Luxury of Denial.

2. Dr. David Luckow
Dr. David Luckow is a family physician and a medical review officer who has worked in the field of Addiction Medicine since 2003.

3. Joshua Haupt
Joshua Haupt is an Addiction Counsellor and the founder of Centre Summit, a private outpatient clinic dedicated to providing specialized services in the field of addiction counselling.

4. Rabbi Benyamin Bresinger
Since 2007, Rabbi Benyamin Bresinger and his wife Karen have served as the Director and Clinical Director, respectively, of Chabad Lifeline: a nonprofit, non-sectarian addiction counselling centre.

5. Lee Haberkorn
Lee Haberkorn is the host of The Beat Breakfast Club on The Beat 92.5, a board member at Andy’s House Treatment Centre, and a national advocate for mental health.
