Agence Ometz is a human service agency offering a range of services that support people to reach their full potential while strengthening the vitality of the Montreal Jewish community and the broader Montreal community.
- Providing Rapid Crisis Response: Fast, compassionate intervention for individuals and families facing urgent financial, emotional, social or safety concerns.
- Strengthening Mental Health and Well-Being: Offering counselling, mental health support, and guidance to help people build resilience and navigate life’s challenges.
- Empowering Families: Supporting parents and caregivers through parenting groups, school workshops, and resources that foster strong, healthy family environments.
- Equipping People for Financial Independence: Budgeting programs and resources to break the cycle of poverty.
- Supporting Newcomers: Helping individuals and families settle and build a new life in Montreal.
- Offering Employment Services: Job search assistance and skills training, including Supported Employment Services for people living with a mental health diagnosis, autism, or an intellectual or learning disability.
- Empowering the Next Generation at L’Annexe, The Ometz Centre for Young Adults: Ensuring a dedicated space for connection, growth and support for young people aged 16-35.
For over 160 years, Ometz has been serving the needs of the Montreal Jewish community and the broader Montreal community. Beginning as three separate agencies, Jewish Employment Montreal (JEM), Jewish Family Services (JFS) and Jewish Immigration Aid Services (JIAS) joined together in 2008 to form the organization that we now know as Ometz. Ometz is the Hebrew word for courage and reflects the courage of those who seek our support in transforming their lives.
